Why has the welfare of animals that has helped thrive communities by co-existence been the least in the country’s priority?

To this day, we are practicing a law which was introduced 116 years ago (1907), when Sri Lanka has not yet been granted its Independence. Imagine how much has changed since then, but the value/worth of an animal remained the same (Rs. 100 or 3 months jail sentence max)

What happens to the society when we don’t correct the problems we have power to change?

This petition was created by Advocates for Animals, and is supported by us and other activists and organizations. Join the campaign, Enact the Animal Welfare Bill, a coalition of environmental/animal rights organizations and activists and animal lovers.

Have animals become such commodities of exploitation and abuse? or are we incapable of viewing other species as a living, breathing and emotional intelligent beings? or are we simply misusing our power as human beings by not lending our voice for those who cannot speak up for themselves.

Is this the way to show our future generations the kindness, empathy and compassion towards other species and treating them with respect and love they all deserve?

If we don’t Enact the Animal Welfare Bill, these consequences cannot and will not be enough to keep our animals or let alone our society safe.

Be the Agent for Change and Lend them your voice by Signing the Petition.
